We're a small studio, and we take privacy seriously — both yours and ours. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how to get rid of it whenever you'd like.
01What we collect
We collect only what we need to sell you a cube, send you a puzzle, and let you sign in again next month.
- Account information — name and email. Sign-in is passwordless (email code / magic link), so we never store a password. Accounts are managed by our authentication provider, Clerk.
- Order information — billing address, shipping address, and order history. Payment details are processed entirely by Stripe and never stored on our servers.
- Usage data — if you've opted in to analytics, we collect anonymous, aggregated information about how you use the site (page views, button clicks). No personal identifiers.
- Puzzle progress — if you sign in, we save your puzzles and times so you can resume from any device.
02The ZudoCube app
The ZudoCube app for iPhone and iPad is covered by this policy. You can play it without an account and without giving us anything: the daily board, every rung of the Climb, and the practice boards all work signed out. Practice boards are generated on the device, and a board you have already opened stays playable with no connection at all. Three kinds of data leave the device.
- Email address — only if you choose to sign in, and only to identify your account. Sign-in is the same passwordless email code used on the site, handled by Clerk.
- User ID — your account ID once you sign in. Before that, the app makes a random anonymous ID and keeps it in the device keychain so a timed run can be ranked without an account. It is not your device's advertising identifier, we do not read any Apple-issued device ID, and the anonymous ID is never linked to anything outside ZudoCube. Sign in and you can attach earlier anonymous runs to your account; if you never sign in, that ID is all we have.
- Gameplay content — which boards you finished, your solve times, and for a timed run the per-cell splits, mistakes, and hints used. Speed runs are clocked on our server rather than on your phone, which is the only reason the timing data has to leave the device at all.
We use all three only to make the app work — signing you in, saving progress, and ranking leaderboards. They are linked to your identity, and none of them are used to track you. The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or attribution SDKs, and no in-app purchases. Deleting the app removes the anonymous ID with it; to remove an account and everything attached to it, email privacy@zudocube.com.
03What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information. Ever.
- We don't share data with advertising networks unless you opt in to marketing cookies.
- We don't train AI models on your puzzles, messages, or behavior.
- We don't track you across other websites.
04How we use it
We use your information to fulfill your order, send you transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping, password reset), and — only if you opted in — send you the weekly puzzle newsletter.
We use anonymized analytics to understand what's working and what isn't. That data helps us make the site better. It never identifies you personally.
05Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers we need to operate:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, authentication (US, EU).
- Clerk — account sign-in for the site and the app.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Shipping carriers — to deliver physical products.
- Email providers — to send transactional and (opted-in) marketing email.
Each of these providers is contractually bound to handle your data securely. We never share your data with anyone else without your consent or a valid legal request.
06Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. The strictly necessary ones keep you signed in and your cart intact. Everything else is optional and off by default. See our cookie policy for the full list and to change your preferences.
07How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Order records are kept for seven years to comply with tax law. Anonymized analytics are kept indefinitely; personal analytics events are deleted after 26 months.
08Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and personal data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to certain uses (e.g. analytics) by changing your cookie preferences.
If you're in the EU, UK, California, or any jurisdiction with a privacy law, you have these rights guaranteed. Email privacy@zudocube.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
09Children
ZudoCube is suitable for puzzlers of all ages, but accounts are only available to people 13 and older. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll close the account.
10Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll email you and post a notice at the top of the site. The date at the top of this page is always the date of the latest revision.
